It used to be held that a judge had necessarily no claim to vacation
leave beyond the due recess of this court, but it appears that in Hongkong business flags to a certain extent during the
vacation of the courts. Sir J. Smale
was allowed 4 months' leave, Mr.
Shaw doing the whole work.
Stoppage
W. Innes must now have the work provided. Sir J. Smale can do the work of both courts for the time being without loss
